3 Twists Too Much

I’ve started the sweater and got past the cable ruffle. But putting it up to Ella, it’s too much. I need to rip back past one cable twist. I think that’ll work much better on her.

And because of the funky way that iPhoto works, when I delete the most recent photo, I keep seeing this.

She wasn’t always a tall 8 year old. I can’t believe she was ever this small. That cable ruffle would take up half her torso as a baby.

Soft and Squishy

Taking a break from Harry Potter reading, I knit up a swatch for a new project. The Sugarloaf is so soft and squishy. I’ve been mostly working on socks lately, so it was a real treat to knit with the Sugarloaf. And I love the new colors. It’s so hard to pick which one I want to use.

Lattice with Seed Stitch

Twisted and Crossed Ribbing

Garter and Rib Pattern

Rose Fabric

Poor blog. I’ve pretty much been ignoring it. These squares are one of two projects I worked on at the beach. Four more squares done. Our goal was to start the Mosaic section while at the beach, which we did. We’re still thinking about switching out some of the mosaic squares with some that we like more. And Johanna got to block all of her squares she’s finished. They look so nice. I’ll take a photo of them the next time we’re together.

Kniting Always Comes First

And once again I’m leaving the packing for our beach trip to the last minute. (Well not the packing list. With my Master Packing List, I was able to make my beach packing list days ago.) Of course I pack my knitting first. The knitting is more important than the swimsuit, right?

Adams Farm

We took a trip up to Adams Farm on Saturday and had a great time.

It was a busy day at the farm the day before. Check out the day old angora goat and day old piglets we got to see.

Lots and lots of animals. While the kids were milking a goat, I snuck away to the upstairs of their store to touch wool and browse.

And then I came upon a Weavette. A few weeks ago at the WEBS knitting drop-in, a woman had brought along her 2×2 hand loom along with the baby blanket she was working on. I really liked the look of the blanket; like a bunch of postage stamps sewn together. I had to bring it home with me.

Then tonight I grabbed my scrap yarn and played a little. One rectangle became four before I knew it. Now I want other Weavettes. Hmm, maybe a little log cabin action? I’m going to teach Ella tomorrow. She’s excited too.

Finished Project: Blithe Wrap

Project Specs:
Pattern: Classic Elite Yarns “Blithe” Wrap/Large Scarf
Yarn: Blithe from Classic Elite in color 10468 wine
Needles: US 13
Size: 76″ x 16″

Another store garment. This was an easy pattern to memorize. But all of the p2tog combined with double stranding the yarn made it a bit of a challenging knit. But it was so nice working with this yarn I didn’t mind. So soft. I’d love to make one to keep. I really like Blithe. Who knew camel yarn could be so great?
