Knitting at the Movies

They’re knitting at the movies over in the UK. But I have yet to run into another person knitting at the movies. But I know I’m not the only one out there.

Thanks to Cirilia’s idea, I now have added a handy little light to my knitting tool kit. No longer do I need to fear the dreaded drop stitch or a tricky increase/decrease while at the movies.

  2. Oh God, did I mention that I sometimes hold the little Mag Lite in my teeth in the car? I pen lite that I could bite to light would be much better…or a miner’s helmet!!

  4. God, I know, that entry was a bear to compose but I didn’t want to break it into smaller bits.

The spiral binding was cheap, under 4 dollars and very worth it. I did the same evaluation and decided on the socks book for now–I might do The World of Knitted Toys as well because there are line by line directions. To be honest, the job wasn’t totally perfect, and this bugged me! I wouldn’t do this to say, my Barbara Walkers. I need to make those book weights…hmm…easy sewing project…

As for the school/knitting balance–I hate to say it, but I get to knit a lot more now! And while I’m making you mad, I have to tell you about my day–I am T.A.ing for a film class and we had a screening today–Alice by Jans Svankmajer. During my night class (Politics of Sexual Representation) we watched Me and You and Everyone We Know! It is going to be a very good semester =)

Full time at Webs can be exhausting! Now you and Karen can understand why I was always so surly/dazed. Still, you and that position were made for each other!

  6. I knit at the movies but only if the pattern is stockinette, preferably in the round. Last week, I made it through several inches of my EZ Fair Isle (not the color work, obviously) during Pan’s Labyrinth and I only got a few comments from people about how odd it seemed. Karma – one of the “gentlemen” got sick and threw up. Charmed!

  8. My knitting teacher has specific projects she knits at the movies. I think there are certain stitches she can just do by the feel.
